Do you remember your first day of Summer Camp?
YAI’s Mainstreaming at Camp (MAC) program, now in its 30th year, knows about how to help kids thrive in a fully-integrated sleepaway camp setting. Getting out of thier usual routines and into the cabins, the woods and even the lake can be challenging, but the experienced MAC staff know how to get the campers acclimated and participating in a host of activities.
One camper's mom recalls the impact the experience had on her daughter Rachel, “She really grew in independence and friend-making skills. She was able to experience the world without me as a safety net every step of the way, and I know Rachel loved camp because she has a book filled with camp pictures and will show anyone the book any chance she gets.”
Often, the only thing that stands between children and this extraordinary camp experience is their family’s inability to afford the camp fees. But you can help and together with MAC, we can give the gift of Summer Camp this Giving Tuesday.
